Open floor plans
Typical Ranch floor plans are generally one story high with an “L” shaped floor plan with all the bedrooms grouped in one wing or one side of the home. Today’s homeowner demands a home that combines the kitchen, living/family space and often the dining room to create open floor plans for easy living and a spacious feeling. Homes up until the 1940s and 1950s employed designs where each function had its own separate room. The kitchen would be a separate room, living room a separate room, dining room a separate room, and so on.
Don’t let the simple nature of the open floor plan home fool you. Open floor plan homes have a wide range of square footage options, floor plans, features, and benefits.
